FRESHER’S NIGHT 2015
“LO and Behold” The D- day arrived – the 12th of July, 2015 at IFMR with a ‘BANG’!

Following the age old tradition, the seniors (Batch 15) got their act together and the magic finally unleashed after a tedious month full of assignments and exams.

Batch 16 were asked to assemble at ‘Seminar hall-3’ at ‘6.30 pm’.

The fresh faces couldn’t be more excited, the energy, thrill and the enthusiasm was reflecting from their faces. Dressed in best of their apparels, the ladies and the gentlemen stunned the hall. And the seniors gave a tough fight too.

The event started with the prominent voices of ‘LAASYA’ – the cultural club of IFMR and thereafter the stage was taken over by the singing talents - Samridhi, Vibhu, Sudharshan, Anmol and Vivek (of Batch 16). Songs like ‘’ROOBAROO’’ ; “HAMMA HAMMA” thrilled the crowd, and mood for the occasion was set up perfectly.

Then came the important time when the contestants for Mr. and Ms Fresher were to perform. The questions were fired at them, sometimes there were ‘awkward ones which amused the crowd the most.

“Nritya- the Dance club” hit the floor with all of its dancing sensations, it could not have gotten anymore entertaining with ‘Jalebi Bai and Gandi baat’ blasting off the speakers.

Settling down, after the sizzling performances, at the choice of the crowd, the contestants were picked up for ‘Mr. and Ms. Best dressed’. The contestants blazed up the ground with their signature walks and moves.

The title for Mr. and Ms. Best dressed was given away to Ashwin and Shivangi of Batch 16.

Samuel hit his strings, with the song ‘Money can’t buy you happiness’ and bagged the title ‘Best singer male’ and Soumya  won for the ‘Best singer female’.

Smriti Vig and Abhinav Mehta won the Best dancers title for their fiery routines.

The ambience was up and then came the most awaited moment. Parth Kaura and Prachi Shrivastava  took away MR. and Ms. Fresher’s title, with their bold and spontaneous attitude.

The lady from Punjab - Harneet Kaur,  blew the crowd away with the most entertaining performance of the evening, when she performed ‘Bhangra and Gidda’, accompanied by Smriti Vig’s jaw dropping dance routine.

It was all a synchronized chain of amazing events which led to the sumptuous dinner.

Well fed with the food and entertainment, the Best part was yet to come.

‘’DJ time!” At 9.30 pm, We all rushed towards ‘the Portico’, and the crowd roared along with the songs.

Thinking back, it was the night which brought everyone together ‘The big IFMR family’, and has registered itself amongst THE most memorable days at IFMR.

Convocation 2015

Our convocation was one of the few opportunities that we got to be on the Sricity campus with our juniors. It was a big day for all of us. After two long years of classes and exams, we were finally going to get our degrees. Our professors seemed to be more excited than we were, trying to get us ready for one of the most important days of our life. Rehearsals were fun with professors arguing about minute details and arrangements and trying to get us students to behave at least for those few hours of the graduation ceremony.

We were told to remember umpteen things; shake hands with the chief guest, smile, say thank you, pose for the camera all within those few seconds we got to be on stage. But for me, the most difficult task of all was not to trip and fall in front of all those people, it being made tougher with the saree that was draped with inexperienced hands. I was nervous and excited at the same time.

Despite all this on my mind, those few seconds were one of the most memorable of my life. Along with my degree, I received the scholarship as well as the C.M Kothari award for meritorious performance. As I walked back to my seat wearing the gold medal, I saw my parents’ happy faces in the audience and at that point of time I felt that all the effort and time spent on MBA was totally worth it.

I carry happy memories from the convocation. Meeting friends after a long time, congratulating each other, getting the blessings of professors, taking a million pics and of course throwing our graduation hats in the air. I wouldn’t say I am sad that college days are over because I know that I would always be in touch with all the friends I made during those 2 years. IFMR has given me more than what I asked for. Though I have graduated before, this day would always remain special.
