Music Club Event “Raga” on 9th Jan 19

Music Club Event “Raga” on 09/01/19

Since time immemorial humans have been singing to express their feelings, gratitude, and love towards fellow beings and nature. Singing helps in inducing a sense of harmony and bliss in this fast-paced life, where quality time and leisure have become distant dreams.

The Music Club of IFMR GSB “Raga”- one of the most loved clubs provided a much-needed detour to the students when they organised a karaoke night in the campus. The event saw over-whelming participation from both first years and second years. The event was a blessing in disguise as the entire week was jam-packed with assignments, surprise quizzes, submissions, and deadlines.

Students participated with much pomp and show. They basically had to sing songs of their choice along with the Karaoke. As the night progressed the house was made open to the audience. It was a free-flowing heart-warming session as many students from the audience turned up and sang their hearts out. The event was marked with light snacks and drinks which kept the audience rooting for more. It was a success and students went back with memories they would cherish for a long time to come.

Lohri celebration 2019 @IFMR

Lohri celebration @IFMR

Lohri the traditional festival of Punjab, celebrated to mark the end of winter is associated with the harvest of Rabi crops. Anyone who has ever celebrated this festival dancing around a bonfire knows the spirit of this festival. Lohri is characterized by joy and color. Similar to the spirit of Lohri, IFMR indulged itself to celebrate this colorful festival with utmost excitement and zeal. The ever-happening life at IFMR-GSB posed one more halt when the whole of the campus gathered in the football ground to contribute to the cheerful celebrations of this eve.

The celebrations began with a traditional pooja where all the IFMRians dressed in traditional attires came close to pray for wellbeing. Soon the folk dance of Punjab started and everyone showed their best bhangra moves dazzling and dancing all over the place. The celebrations continued till around 12 midnight with groundnuts and gajak being distributed to everyone. Soon as the clock ticked away the tired crowd went back to their hostels after a night of joy and excitement.

Guest Lecture_Journey from tiny to large by R G Chandramogan CMD Hatsun Agro Product Limited

R G Chandramogan – CMD – Hatsun Agro Product Limited

Topic – “Journey from tiny to large”

It was a great pleasure for IFMR-GSB to host Mr.Chandramogan, the Chairman and Managing Director of Hatsun Agro Product Limited for a guest lecture.

The topic of the session was "The Journey from Tiny to Large", which showcased his glorious entrepreneurial journey of how he turned his investment of mere Rs.13000, into a Rs 5000 crore pan-Indian organization. He enlightened the students with stories about the successes and failures of his company and how his strategy of "fencing the market, without attacking" helped him dodge large competitors and gain greater dominance in the industry. When others worked within the comforts of Chennai, he decided to move beyond its realms into the rural hinterlands and promote his product which boasted of unparalleled and uniform quality. When he faced a dilemma to liquidate his business like some of his competitors or carry on with it in 1993, he realized the demand and potential of the Indian masses and went ahead with making his brand even bigger and much more diversified. With great knowledge of his business and entrepreneurship, he also guided the students about the ''key drivers to growing a business'' which are technology, finance, methods and scale of operations. He pointed out that openness to new technologies such as Thermal cooling system for Milk and scale of operations were critical ingredients of the organization's growth. Now, Hatsun is one of the top 3 ice-cream manufacturing companies of the country under the charismatic leadership of Mr. Chandramogan and this, according to him, couldn't have been achieved without endurance and patience.
